Ormond BeachOrmond Beach was a star flying wing and linebacker for the Sarnia Imperials in the ORFU (Ontario Rugby Football Union). The ORFU was a league that remained in existance until 1960, and in Beach's time the ORFU teams competed in playoffs against the winner of the IRU which went on to become the Eastern division of the modern CFL. The graduate of Kansas university was an ORFU all-star in all four years he played and Sarnia was the ORFU champion in all four years. In two of those years (1934 and 1936), Sarnia went on to win the Grey Cup. Beach was also named the most outstanding player in the ORFU in 1937. Beach died in an oil tank explosion just as the 1938 season was due to get underway on September 20. Beach was elected to the Canadian Football Hall-of-Fame in 1963.
